SAMIR CHANTRE BJJ SEMINAR A HIT!

First off, I would like to thank Samir for coming out to do the seminar and to all the participants that came out as well. This was my first BJJ seminar that I’ve hosted and it was a huge success! We went over technique that was easy to follow, easy to execute, and has high success rates. One of the thing that stood out the most to me was that he didn’t just jumble a bunch of technique together and throw it out there to us, he gave us all related technique from one particular position from point A to point B. An occurrence in seminars rarely seen. Another thing that stood out was that he gave us a good amount of time to drill. Not too long, and not too short. The way he had the seminar laid out was brilliant! High percentage technique in a format that was extremely conducive to information retention and muscle memory commitment. This seminar is a first of many more seminars to come with Samir. Stay tuned for future seminars! Again, thank you Samir for coming out for the seminar, thank you to those that came out, and thank you to FighterTech for sponsoring the event!

GREAT POST WRITTEN BY MY BROTHER! HEAD OF PAGES BROTHERS BJJ, PI!

My brother, PJay Pages (Head of Pages Brother BJJ, PI) recently had a meeting with his students/team to discuss training, the team, and the gym. The reason for this meeting was an attempt to boost consistency in training amongst his students. He has just started teaching and he is experiencing his first hurdle as a BJJ instructor. A hurdle that we all, as instructors come across at one point in time. Inconsistency! It’s almost a regular thing with a lot of schools and students around the world. You’ll have your dedicated students and then you’ll have your students that come and go. He brought up some great points during his meeting that he posted for his students on Facebook that I would like to reiterate and add to my students and to anyone else that would like to heed my words.

NEW CLASS FORMAT! WEEK 1!

It’s the dawn of a new format at Jay Pages Jiu-Jitsu & MMA! I’ve let you all know in class that this day was coming, and here it is! Classes are a bit longer, more technique intensive, and more rolling! There’s even a new format to the rolling! I will post a format for the week every Monday and I will do my best at recording and posting the technique we go over from the previous week. My goals with this new format are to place more emphasis on technique than conditioning. Conditioning will still be gained through the drilling and rolling, however I still do highly suggest you work on strength and conditioning outside of training. I am taking this route with the training in hopes that we become more complete Jiu-Jitsu players. Complete in the sense that our physical fitness is just as strong as our technique and vice versa!

STAY TUNED! FORMAT CHANGE! CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT!

This is just a quick head up on a soon to be implemented change to the format of our classes and the format of our weeks. Just to give you a quick birds eye view, we will be implementing curriculum development days, student requested work, and tournament strategy training as well. We will still stick with the themes of the week, we’ll just be changing it up a bit. Other changes that will be implemented will be the classes them selves. They will have less general conditioning and more Jiu-Jitsu specific drills in replacement. More time will be spent drilling and rolling. So, stay tuned for more details and stay tuned for the changes to the classes and to the website itself! Expect to find more interactivity!

These changes will help us get better, stronger physically and technically for Jiu-Jitsu. This new format will have us enter 2012 better and stronger than ever! Again, stay tuned and let’s get excited!
